  5. now i’m green with envy. *sigh*

you’re very lucky to have them as your kids. but they are luckier to have you as their parents. all the best for ’09!

  8. It’s beautiful!!! Congrats to them! (and to you all too!) πŸ™‚

  9. Lovely ring – very tasteful and like love it is universal but completely unique to the people involved. Awww – sweet times!

  10. Whoa…I clearly must have missed something. Must go back and catch up!

  11. Gorgeous!!

  12. precious!

  13. They still have 8 more days in Taiwan, then Amanda will fly home and Ben will go back to college, which is a 7 hour drive from us. πŸ™

They don’t have a wedding date picked yet. I could be wrong, but I am guessing it is unlikely to happen before Ben graduates from college in May. (He is getting a degree in landscape architecture– only ONE more semester! Go, Ben!!!)

And yes, she was surprised! πŸ™‚ He did a great job making it very memorable for her.

Mary, who is finding herself a tad uncomfortable with the mother-in-law word (I’m too YOUNG!!) but is planning to be the nice sort.

  14. Mary,

Thankfully, the MIL word does not denote any age, young or old. (unlike Grandma which is the other moniker I go by (besides Mommy). This is what happens when I am with a man who has a son that is 26 years old and two kids of his own.)

I think it’s great that you are becoming a MIL without the stereotypical mindset of being MIL. You will be a great MIL no matter what.

  15. How precious and what a great way to start the new year!!!

  16. Such an exciting time! So full of anticipation for everyone involved.

    (Have you stopped grinning yet?)

  17. It’s beautiful! I know they’re excited!

  18. It’s beautiful! Wow!

  19. What a beautiful design, did Ben pick this on his own? If he did, I am amazed.

I am so happy for you and Amanda.

  20. Ben and Amanda did a bunch of looking in Taiwan, and got an idea of what they liked. Then a custom jeweler that Ben’s parents knew came and talked over everything with them, and designed them a custom ring. They are really happy with how it turned out.

  21. It is a beautiful ring. God bless their life together.
