The trick is in knowing just what to say…

This afternoon, one after another, all 4 little kids paraded into the house, proudly carrying handfuls of flowers for mommy.

Our chrysanthemum bushes are doing their valiant best to give us the last blooms of the season, and as child after child presented me with ever-more of my bushes, I became increasingly concerned for the welfare of my poor mums.

“Oh my goodness, those are so pretty!”  I said.  “Maybe you shouldn’t pick me so many next time, though…?”

“But mommy!” exclaimed my 4 year old, “we picked them for you because we love you!  We can’t just stop loving you!”

And once again, mommy melted into a puddle before her sweet 4 year old.

They are pretty, aren’t they?

  1. They are lovely! It’s good to know you are soooooooo loved!!

  2. Very pretty, oh yes indeed, altogether like that.

A wink and a gallant smile, Mom.

They were gonna die sooner or later anyway.

  3. They are arranged so beautifully, they look professional!

  4. Those flowers are from your garden? They really do look professional. And what sweet kids!!!!

  5. How precious!!!! Oh, kids are wonderful!

Sorry I’ve almost disappeared from the blogosphere! I have been SUPER busy, but I’ve gotten alot accomplished.

  6. Beautiful….

  7. What is it with those 4-year-olds? Because I have one too, and she’s a pro at stuff like this.

    Soooo sweet!

  8. I love purple and yellow together.

  9. Absolutely gorgeous!

  10. What a beautiful bouquet!

  11. She is a sweetie! The lovely bouquet reminds me of Mother Theresa’s quotation: How can there be too many children? That is like saying there are too many flowers!

  12. Absolutely beautiful.

  13. Wow, that does look like a professional arrangement. I love your daughter’s comment — how lovely. 🙂 Makes it hard to get upset about beheaded bushes, I know…

  14. gorgeous flowers. and what a wonderful sentiment from the kiddos. You can tell they are mothered with a lot of love!

  15. I think they are prettier on the table than on the bush. You have to admit, you’d never have taken their picture out in the yard. ;O)
