Giveaway: The Nesting Place

Folks, I am soooo excited about this lovely book!  It is by Myquillyn Smith, who blogs at The Nester, and it contains many, many simple and delightful ways to make a wonderfully comfortable haven out of any ordinary house.  You don’t have to have thousands of dollars.  In fact, you don’t even have to own the home you’re living in to make it a welcoming place for you and your loved ones.

I’m blessed to be giving away one copy of this book.  All you have to do to enter the drawing is comment below and tell me one thing you’d like to fix about your current home.  For an additional entry, like this post on Facebook or share it on Twitter, then comment again telling me you did so.   I’ll choose a book winner later this week!

  1. I would fix my wall hangings…they need to be done in a way that actually reflects who I am as a homemaker. Thanks!

  2. I need to decorate my dining room. I have a blank wall in need of some attention.

  3. I would like to fix my children’s bathroom. It really needs a renovation. In fact, all but one of my children use the master bathroom to shower because the shower is so difficult to use.

  4. I would love to add a more cozy feel to our lvingroom/dining room area… some built in bookcases around the fireplace, etc.

  5. Kristen says:

I would love to remove all the ugly wallpaper from my entryway.

  6. Jennifer says:

We need to hang more pictures, it’s always the last thing we do, and therefore it never seems to get done! We have all sorts of frames sitting up against walls, and not in that pretty “they are supposed to be here” way.

  7. Elizabeth says:

Find a place for the stuff that accumulates on our bar counter (among other things!).

  8. Elizabeth says:

    Retweeted your link on Twitter.

  9. Elizabeth says:

I’d like to paint my bedroom.

  10. Elizabeth says:

I’m not sure why my comment said I retweeted?? The comment I wrote was, “I’d like to paint my bedroom.”

  11. I’d love to have new flooring to replace our very old, worn out floors.

  12. Kim at Thistle Dew says:

Please add my name to the drawing! Hubby and I are empty nesters who are turning the house upside down to make room for foster children or a potential sibling group adoption… We’re trying to split a bedroom into two bedrooms, and add a bathroom, so we need all the inspiration we can get!

    Kim 🙂

  13. Melissa says:

We need to repaint…with washable paint!!

  14. Rachel R. says:

I’d love to add some color to our living room: on the walls and in the furniture.

  15. I want to redo my 1980’s Formica wood grain cabinets in my kitchen- add trim and crown molding, paint and new hardware. Basically camouflage their dark ugliness! I’m hoping to accomplish it this summer.

By the way, I saw “The Nester” speak at the Becoming Conference 2 years ago; she’s delightful and I’d love to have her book!

  16. Amy from Occupation: Mommy says:

I would love to fix my 2 middle kids’ bedroom. It has really ugly wallpaper that needs to come down and a bunch of mismatched furniture.

  17. Diana Campbell says:

I am on an organizing spree for a potential addition to our family. I would love some inspiration.

  18. I’d love to get the boys bedroom and bathroom done…it really needs it! I just need the time and energy…and maybe a little money! Thanks for a chance to win! ~~Pam

  19. I have an old wood panelled wall that really needs to go so we can paint and brighten up our living room.

  20. Hmmm… I would rearrange all my furniture and add a few pieces! I love changing it up and moving things between rooms but I think it drives my hubby nuts! 😉

  21. I would change my hall bath. It’s NOT a pretty color

  22. I want my house to have a more cozy, homey feel to it.

  23. Figure out how to arrange my living room in a way that makes sense.

  24. More storage in my kitchen (does a kitchen ever have enough storage?)

  25. ginny jolin says:

I like to update my downstairs bathroom. It looks too much like a bathroom and I’d like it to be more like a powder room.

  26. Paint my living room!!!

  27. Love my house the way it is.

  28. chantel says:

We just moved into our house, so I would have to say just getting the boxes unpacked! After that we have a ton of work to do. The backyard is a dirt pile, so that needs some grass and plants.

  29. Melissa says:

Definitely our family room–sponge painting, nasty carpet & worn furniture. It’s so overwhelming I don’t know where to start. I keep telling myself I should just wait until the kids get older, but I’m not sure I can wait that long. I’ve been looking at yard sales for furniture. In the mean time, our family continues to make great memories in that room despite its appearance.

  30. I’d like to make our master bedroom more cozy.

  31. Y’know, we took down the wallpaper and a small area of decaying plaster in the living room when I was last pregnant, in the blessed second trimester of superenergy. The baby’s now 6½ months old. That project could stand to be finished!

  32. My curtains!

  33. The bathroom fan.

  34. I would paint the ceiling in my hallway. It’s dark green and makes the area too dark. I also need to hang photos on the wall.

  35. Rebecca says:

We will be doing a three-way bedroom swap this summer to make room for child number 9. There will be lots of rearranging, redecorating, and possibly repainting! Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially on a budget.

  36. Rebecca says:

Liked this post on FB also!

  37. I’d like to change out the carpet in our upstairs living room to some kind of hardware. It’s getting old and worn, and with a child with asthma, something that’s not carpet would be a lot better for his health.

  38. I liked this post on Facebook and shared it on my wall.

  39. The walls. Much of the paint is left from the previous owner, and it is in desperate need of a change.

  40. Allison says:

I would work on painting my kitchen cabinets, add a tile backsplash and redo the countertops!

  41. I would love to change my bedroom up. It seems like our room is always the last place to get beautified.

  42. Lynn Hamm says:

We have to much stuff, we need to lighten our lives and home by clearing the clutter.

  43. We just moved, um, a year ago. I would like to hang pictures/decorations in our bedroom and make it more of a retreat…I’m sad how its the last room I’ve dealt with (But I’m trying to decide if I put up the same things from the last house or try new things, in my defence.)

  44. Fix up my girls bathroom. With four of them sharing it, it needs a little extra TLC.

  45. Christine says:

I would like to finish our master bedroom. We painted and refurnished it a few years ago. We still have not put the finishing touches on with art etc. We did put baby pictures of the kids up. I would like to repaint the living room and kitchen. Finally, I would like to give our bathroom a make over. It is dated. Thanks for having the drawing.

  46. Our home feels cluttered, so I’m clearing out the “stuff” little by little and trying to use our spaces more efficiently. 🙂

  47. Tweeted the link! 🙂

  48. I have stacks of pictures and a slight phobia in putting holes in freshly repainted walls.

  49. Id like to paint all the oak cabinets in my home!

  50. i need another bedroom
