Valentine Garland Makeover

Every Christmas I hang a garland of twinkle lights and greenery over my bay window. I love it so much that it is always the very last Christmas decoration I take down. Often it lasts a good month longer than the Christmas tree.

Occasionally I’ve left it up til spring, making it over with spring flowers to make it look appropriate for the changing seasons. This year I gave it a Valentine’s theme by removing the most obviously ‘Christmas’ balls and replacing them with paper hearts. It was a quick and easy fix, and I like how it turned out.

  1. I love it! I’m a sucker for valentine’s day.

  2. It’s adorable! I can see why you like it so much.

Did you change how your blog shows up in the RSS feed? Now it only gives me a couple of sentences and then links to the site, rather than letting me read it all without having to go online. 🙁

    • Hi Sandi,
Yes, I’m experimenting with it for a little while. Thanks for the feedback and I appreciate you being willing to make that extra click to see what’s going on here. I promise to try every day to make it worth your while…

super cute! I love it! I leave my twinkle lights up on our mantle all year, but I bet I could add something Valentiney to them too.

  4. Cute! I don’t have any Valentine’s decorations but I really want some! I never thought of revamping my Christmas decor. So creative!

  5. CUTE! The greenery over my front window is still hanging, too. I love it too much to take it down. Was just thinking the other day I needed to “update” it for Valentines day… Gonna copy you! Paper hearts will be just the thing~ the kiddos will have a project for tomorrow!!
