Giveaway: Kisses from Katie

~My review policy~
When I was asked to review the book Kisses from Katie I was completely thrilled. You see, I’ve read Katie’s blog for a couple years now, and I’ve always wanted to know how exactly a 22 year old girl could end up living in Uganda as the adoptive mother of 14 girls.  The story is just as intriguing as I suspected.  My 16 year old Ethiopian-born daughter read the book in four days, utterly enthralled.  (She’d love to go back to Ethiopia and be a missionary some day, probably working alongside her Aunt Sophie.)  I got the book next and finished it just as quickly.  It is a compelling, inspirational story.

Today I have a copy of Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption to give away!  To enter the drawing, comment below and tell me what your childhood dreams looked like.  What did you want to be?  I always wanted to be a nurse and a mom, and I thought it would also be cool to be a writer. (Except back then I imagined writing horse books!) For a second entry, ‘like’ this page on FB and come back and tell me you did it. I will select a winner at random on Thursday.  Looking forward to hearing about your childhood dreams…

  4. I “Liked” this on Facebook… 🙂

  5. Honestly, I wanted to be a college professor and an author. Not sure what I thought I could write about that someone else would want to read, but I always loved to write. I never really thought about being a mother – assumed I would have children, I guess, but did not focus on the fact that that would make me a mother. God has such a sense of humor… ! Now I have 7 children, home school them, and the only “writing” I do consists of lessons, emails, and occasional notes to people. I have thought, even recently, about writing again. I would like to write stories for my children. Maybe between 2 and 4am…. 🙂

Thanks for your blog and your book – I have really enjoyed reading your thoughts.
    ~Karen

  14. Elaine Evans says:

I always wanted to be a mom to atleast ten children by birth and adoption. I used to make floor plans and name every child. I remember being especially concerned about one “daughter” named “Ashley “. I love that God let me know even back then that there is loss and pain with adoption We don’t have an Ashley, but otherwise our lives have turned out almost exactly as He revealed to my young heart. We also don’t have near the number of bedrooms I thought we’d need…so thankful for that, too.–Elaine

  33. I wanted to be all the regular things like a teacher or lawyer. But, near the summer house my grandparents owned was a huge rambling yellow farmhouse that I always dreamed of owning. I was going to stop and pick up all the homeless people I could find with signs that said “will work for food” and let them come live with me until they were back on their feet. Strange goal for a little girl I guess, but I’m still not convinced it was a bad or unattainable goal.

  34. This book is on my Christmas / Birthday wish list!
As a kid I wanted to be a teacher, or an acrobat, or run an orphanage.

  36. I never wanted to be anything but a wife and a mother. My mother was so upset with me when I told her I didn’t want to go to college. I got married at 19 and have been married to the love of my life and my best friend for 29 1/2 years. I have been a mom for almost 28 years now but have never been able to stay at home until we adopted Emma. In 2006, my dream finally came true and I was full time Mommy to two precious little girls and two big kids. Now I’m even a homeschool mom:) God has blessed me so much!
