I rouse myself at 8 AM for a run with 3 of my boys.  I head for the shower afterward, and my two little girls beg to keep me company.  Usually I have the shower to myself, but thinking of the next four days I say yes.  They grin in delight.  We know goodbyes are coming and we want to be together now.  At breakfast I look at the faces around me with extra intensity.  I love going places, but I hate leaving my people behind.

Now it’s 10:30.   Four hours til we leave for the airport.  A few odds and ends of things to do, and then I’ll hug everyone goodbye and take off on a plane.  First to Denver and then to Austin.   I’ll make it to my hotel in the wee hours of Thursday morning.  Here’s where I’ll be on Thursday.  I’ll be blogging about each session that I attend, so stay tuned.  And keep my family in your thoughts and prayers while I am away from them.  They’ve got some fun things planned to do with dad, but we’ll all be missing each other.

  1. I so wanted to attend, but financially, it was impossible. I’m so excited to get to experience it all through your eyes. Thanks so much for sacrificing a weekend with your family so that others could benefit from the wisdom shared.
You and your family will be in our prayers.
    Blessings and safe travel mercies!

  2. Looking forward to hearing about your experience this weekend. I hope that both you and your family enjoy the weekend. Safe travels and thank you for sharing your knowledge. Prayers and blessings!

  3. Be sure to attend the 8:30 General Session Saturday morning. That’s MY pastor speaking 🙂

  4. Can’t wait to hear ALL about it!!!

  5. Blessings on this trip. I am sure the pre-conference with Karyn Purvis will be fascinating. I think her book, The Connected Child, is a must-read for anyone who is adopting or has adopted, especially if that child is older. I wish we didn’t live so far away (Canada), otherwise we would have been at the conference. I hope that you can give us a ‘bird’s eye view’ of the conference proceedings.

  6. Oh I so wish I could have attended. 🙁 I hope the conference talks will be available for purchase because I really wanted to hear Karyn Purvis speak. I am going to have to dust off my copy of her book, the Connected Child, as we head into the last couple of months before traveling for our 6.5 yr old son.

Praying for you and your family…

  7. Dear Mary,
Thanks for inspiring me to get off of my butt and run. I have a similar program (over here in the Netherlands it’s called Start To Run) and I’ve completed it twice before. But now, with a young baby, I kept finding excuses not to go. Last week I noticed myself panting as I had walked up a flight of stairs and so today I went again. Thanks to you! I hope I’ll be able to complete the program again this time, because I know from experience how proud you feel when you can run 5km. And how much it improves your health, both physically and mentally!

  8. Have fun! We’re good. We’ll try to keep the place together while you’re gone. Love you! 😉

  9. Oh I can’t wait to hear your experience!

  10. Looking forward to hearing about your trilp!
