  1. I’m not sure how long I’ve been reading your blog; I started when you were trying to keep your grocery bill for the month at $200–I was sure it couldn’t be done, especially with ten kids! But you surprised me, and I loved reading about your family. I’ve gotten so much from your blog and I know I’ll keep coming for a long time. I love your attitude about life and you inspire me just about every day.

  2. I found your site about 4-5 months ago. I love it! I love the way you share how God is working in your life and the real struggles you face parenting and homeschooling. Thanks for your honesty and sincerity.

  3. I believe that this is the first time I have commented. I think that I have been visiting your site for about a year. Your first book has been so helpful to me and I am very excited to read and implement the meal planning book.
    Thank you!

  4. I’ve been reading your blog for about a year; I really enjoy it!

  5. Amber N. says:

I have been following your blog for just a couple of weeks (maybe 2 months) right after my ds was born.

  6. I have been checking in for 6 months, great blog and so excited about your coobook!

  7. I have been following you since before you had a blog. I read your first Ethiopian adoption story when our family first started considering adoption ourselves, and read your second Ethiopian adoption story as you posted it.

  8. I have just recently found your blog and I love it! I am very excited to get a copy of your cookbook when it comes out next month.

  9. I have been following you for about a year and would be SO THRILLED to get your books! I am a mom of 5 (3 steps, 2 adopted from Russia) and have looked to you for encouragement many many times. God bless you!

  10. I’ve been reading for about 2 1/2 years – actually found you first on your Ethiopian adoption blog when we were researching adoption. Although most people wouldn’t consider us a large family (2 adult children, 2 babies) I can’t wait to read your books!

  11. i’ve been reading your blog for at least a year or two. i can’t remember how long!

  12. I just recently found your blog. We are trying to get our act together and I thought you were just the person to help.
An unusual fact about me? Humm, well, I don’t like hard ice cream, so I usually pop my bowl into the micro for 20 seconds or so to soften it up. Unusual enough?

  13. Second chance?
I just contacted my library (carson city, nevada) and they do not have either book. But have added it to their list of books to consider buying.

  14. Sue from Buffalo says:

I guess I’m fairly new. I’ve only been here for a couple of weeks. An unusual fact about myself? Ok. I’m a big fan of a 60’s tv show called The Wild Wild West and I’ve talked to the star of that show (Robert Conrad) a few times on his radio show. From calling his show, I’ve managed to talk to Peter Falk (Columbo), Ruta Lee and Connie Stevens.

  15. I’ve been visiting here for about a year now, I think. And, I will be requesting both of your books from my local library which is the El Dorado County Main Library.

  16. I have been reading your blog for 1 1/2 years now. A friend of mine adopted twin boys from Ethiopia and had you on her link list. We have 4 kids, so far, and I enjoy all of your tips for homeschooling and raising a large crew!

  17. I found your site recently as I regularly visit The Conversion Diary. I’ll keep coming back! I am the mother of three children by adoption (born in Africa), I live in Sweden and my husband and I hope to enlarge our family any day by fostering a lone coming refugee (teenager from Africa). Your experience is and will be valuable as we try to be the best parents we can to our special children!

  18. I have been reading your blog for a couple months now.

  19. I just finished your “Sane Woman’s Guide for Raising a large family” book. I checked it out from the Indianapolis Marion County Library, Lawrence branch.

  20. I think I’ve been reading for almost 3 years. I found your blog before we started our adoption in the summer of 2006.

  21. I’ve been following you for about three years now! I never comment because I’m rubbish, but I love keeping up with your family.

  22. I can’t remember how long I’ve been reading. Maybe since around Blissdom09?

  23. I’ve been following for about a year off and on. Such an inspiration you are.

  24. I have been visiting for about 4 or 5 months now. Thanks!

  25. I’ve been visiting this site for about 2 months now–since I’m not sure if that counts as ‘new’ I’ll share a fact also. I gave my heart to Jesus as a young teenager purely to get a boy to ask me out. Jesus stuck; the boy not so much.

  26. I’m thinking it’s been at least 3 months of having you on my blogroll. Enjoy reading it, and I’m sure your book is good, too. Will have to look for that!

  27. 2 1/2 years, I think. It was around the time we started our Haitian adoption; I found you, first, through Now that I think about it, though, did you used to post a lot on I was a regular there for many years and it seems like that your adoptive breastfeeding story and name remind me of a poster there….

  28. I stumbled across your website a week ago and stayed:)
Mm something unusual about me, I live in Australia and have eight children and homeschool; now that counts as unusual out in the world but doesn’t cut it here I’m sure. Trying again, I have an encyclopedic memory for authors and book titles, does that count here?

  29. It’s been about 3 years, I think.

  30. Love love love your blog! I found you several months ago when my husband and I began considering Ethiopian adoption. Thanks for all you do.

  31. I have been visiting for about a year. My husband and I are adopting and you have been an inspiration to me.

  32. I have been visiting your blog for a couple of months. It’s probably not that unusual… but I am not known for my many words 🙂

  33. Good morning,
I have been reading your beautiful blog for a few years now. I love coming here to read.
    From Cold Sydney Australia :0)

  34. I’ve been visiting your blog for several months now – don’t exactly remember when. I love your posts on adoption!

  35. I requested your Family Feasts book from my local library, High Plains Library District, Farr branch in Colorado. They have three copies on order!

  36. I started reading last fall when you did your no spend month. I have been hooked ever since and did a no spend month the following month.

  37. I’ve probably been reading for 5 months now. One of my favorite blogs. Thanks!

  38. Today is my first visit! I found you on Amazon while looking at your book. I love large family books like the Duggars’. I have 5 kidlets myself ages 6 & under.

  39. I’ve been reading your blog for about two years now. Ever since we were thinking about adopting from Ethiopia.

  40. I just asked my library to get your books, too! West Plains Library in West Plains, MO.

  41. I’m new to your blog. I saw a review for your book from Crystal Paine on Facebook. One thing unique about my family is that we have six children- three through adoption and three biological ones. We are enjoying everyday together.

  42. I’ve been reading for about a year, I think. I really loved reading your daughter’s engagement and wedding story!

  43. I ahve been visiting your blog for 18 months or so regularly, but occasionally before that. I love all of your funny kids and your great money saving tips too, plus all of the super cool websites you unearth!! Jamie

  44. Bethaney says:

Maybe two years. It was during the adoption process of our daughter that a friend showed me your blog. I have four kids, work as a mother/baby nurse, and am happily married for 11 years. I appreciate your honesty about the joys and pains of mothering, homemaking, and marriage, while mainting a happy heart and respect for each of your family members. It is refreshing.

  45. I don’t even remember when I started reading! Before I had kids, and now I have two, I know that much.

I already have your mothering book, but I really want to keep my copy and give one to my friend who has 3 littles under 4.

  46. I’ve been reading for about a year and half. I began when you were writing the Ethiopia Adoption Blog and moved here. Coming here is one of my quiet pleasures after my son goes to be or is napping.

  47. Caroline says:

I actually just found your blog! I’m excited to read more on here, we are expecting our fourth, and want many more! I need to be a much better Mother, and would love to learn more from your books! Something unusual about myself…umm, we are fighting a battle against slugs in our house right now, that seems pretty unusual to me!! 🙂

  48. Caroline says:

For my second entry, I just requested your book at my library, The Mid Continent Public Library. They don’t have it in their system, but they are GREAT about doing inter library loans, so I’m sure to get it! Thanks! I would love to win your books!!

  49. I’ve been reading your blog for about a year, I got here from Pioneer WOman and read all about your interesting family and was hooked:)

  50. Oops, I guess for my second entry I will tell you that I requested your books at the Faulkner County Library. They don’t have them or haven’t ordered them yet, but they got put on the “wish list”. Something unique about me….I’m 42 years old, I have a college degree already but I’m taking classes to get into nursing school. With any luck, I will finish nursing school before my 10th grade son starts college! LOL
