Baby of the family

Being the youngest of ten kids is not entirely a bad deal. Because when the big kids are having races and they keep winning, and you start howling, sometimes they have pity on you and let you ‘win’ a race.

And then they carry you around on their shoulders chanting, “You’re number ONE! You’re number ONE!”

Yeah. Moments don’t get much sweeter than that.

  6. What a wonderful family photo!

  7. That reminds me of a time I was babysitting for a family with five kids. The eldest, a girl around 10, challenged one of the younger boys, around 4, to a race. He thought about it for a moment, looked at her sternly, and said, “Okay, but don’t start without me, and DON’T WIN!” Guess he had to learn how to stand up for himself with three older sisters!

  8. Oh my, that is priceless. Precious. Perfect.

  9. I love the picture, but have to ask – what’s with the shrunken head guy in the background?

  10. Beth, I think the ‘head’ you see is my husband’s hand holding the newspaper….his actual head is out of the picture, and to the left….
