I'm little help. I think trackbacks refer to posts inspired by yours. So, if I wrote something about, say, adoption, inspired by one of your pieces, I would "trackback" to it.
And if that is totally wrong, I'm sorry. I'll be checking back to see if someone else has this better figured out.
I think pings are (generally if you are trying to connect over a network) something your computer sends out. if it gets an answer then your connection is working (this is a guess)… and the only wiki i know is wikipedia.com!
*LOVE* the pic. I voted for ya. Had to laugh when I went in there and saw that my (now extinct) blog was nominated for the same category as yours. I had no idea I had been nominated. Good luck Mary!
A ping is when the subject of your post has been checked by a Search Engine. It started out to be a way for computers talk to each other and keep subjects filed for easy reference, but has evolved into a great method for spam/crap to overload your site.
A trackback usually applies when one blogger links to your post because they are about the same subject or because it might be of interest to yet another reader. Also a great method for idjuts to find you and take advantage of any open server space.
Wiki has a technical term but lately implies reference on Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia.
Looks like you might have to enable Word Verification pretty soon, so that only human eyes can comment.
Let me know when you find out!!! ;D
p.s. I did figure out how to vote though! Yea!

I thought "pings" were all the little scratches in my mini-van around the keyhole… 🙂 GORGEOUS picture.
A trackback is when you read a post, like it, and then write about the same thing but you want to attribute the author!
Cute pic!
A ping will update different blog trackers to let them know that you have recently updated or posted a new post.

That's a hat and a precious, precious child. Easy!
Oh? Not what you meant? I don't know either.
